Veneers are incredibly thin shells made from porcelain. They are individually crafted to look and feel just like the surface of any of your healthy, normal teeth. At our dental office in Beaufort, SC, we use traditional porcelain and e.max veneers made with Cerec. Both are made from porcelain and are very thin, but e.max veneers are twice as strong as normal porcelain veneers. Regardless of which type you use, veneers are placed on the front of your teeth. Because they are made for your smile, in particular, they will look attractive and natural.
Why Get Veneers?
There are many benefits to getting veneers. By covering over the front of your teeth with a healthy, white appearance, veneers cover over any stains or imperfections like chips. They can even cover over small gaps between your teeth, making your smile look more even and attractive. Veneers are stain resistant, keeping their white color for many years. In fact, veneers typically last for 20 years or more with proper care. Plus, they can usually be completely done in three appointments.
But perhaps the biggest benefit is the boost to your self-confidence and happiness. When you see your new, beautiful teeth, you’ll realize how other people will see it, too. Instead of being afraid to smile, you will be proud to.
How Are They Used?
Before you can get a veneer placed, our dentists will carefully remove a thin layer of enamel from each tooth getting a veneer. This is so the veneer will sit flush with the rest of your teeth and look more natural. Once the teeth are prepared, an adhesive is applied to the front. Then the veneer is artfully bonded to the front of your tooth. This process can usually take two or three appointments. The first one or two will involve taking accurate measurements of your teeth so we know exactly how to create veneers for them. Before your final appointment, all veneers are crafted and ready for your arrival.
